It is said that one’s life is defined by the dash between the dates and its hard to understand how so much life can occupy the space of a simple dash, but Alan’s dash was a long and chunky one. He touched so many lives in his short 33 years on this earth. Alan was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at age 7 and diabetes at age 8. These obstacles did not define or change the character developing within his spirit. He was the constant encouragement to those around him. He would light up a room when he went in. He loved his family and friends to be around him, going to the movies, white tigers, swords and knives, Canasta games with the wrinkle ladies, the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, computers and gaming. Over the last year and a half he spent much time with his Nannie Wilson sitting by his side whose bedroom is only steps away from his. She enjoyed just being by his side, watching him game on his computer or watching TV with him. During the last couple of months he spent most of his time in bed and enjoyed watching all his TV programs with his mom after his dad and Nannie went to bed, but reserved Cops and NASCAR watching with his dad. Alan is loved deeply and will be missed greatly. He was an inspiration to all and a hero to many!
