Alice (Gran) was born January 23rd, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas to Raymond C. Bilbo, Sr. and Mary A. Smith. Alice and Wayne Hathaway, Sr. married on July 18th, 1964, in Dallas. They had two children, Cheryl in 1965 and Wayne, Jr. In 1970. Alice was a beautician in Dallas, Texas for over 55 years, retiring in 2017. She was very much a people person that never met a stranger and truly cared about her customers. Even in retirement, she still had several ladies that she would either go to their homes or they would come to hers, to get their hair fixed. Her ladies would always say, “Nobody could fix their hair like she could.” Alice would always try to lend a helping hand and do whatever she could for her customers, even if that meant going to the funeral home and doing their hair for them for the last time and helping them with different things after work. In doing this, she made lifelong friends that she had truly cherished over the years. Alice was the matriarch of the family and always enjoyed over the years having the family get togethers at her house. One specialty at these gatherings was her famous SUPER sweet tea. She so enjoyed going to the grandkids and great-grandkids games, school programs and especially helping them make school projects. She was very crafty, there was nothing she couldn’t make or do. The family dynamic will never be the same without her. No words can truly express how greatly she will be missed by all of us. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Raymond C. Bilbo, Sr. and Mary A. Smith and sister Linda Lewis. She is survived by daughter, Cheryl McCalla and husband Michael; and a son, Wayne Hathaway Jr. and wife Deanna; sister, Glinda Avery; brother, Raymond Bilbo, Jr.; sister, Betty Neugent; 8 grandchildren: Lauren Wadley and husband Malcom, Megan McCalla, Alex Blanton, Samantha McDonald, Kayla Hathaway, Chase Hathaway, Lee Collins and wife Kayla, and Dakota Hoggle; 4 great grandchildren: Marilyn McDonald, Braxton Wadley, Owen McDonald, and Brayden Vineyard.
