Funeral Services and a Celebration of Allene's life will be held at 1 P. M. on Friday, February 7, 2014 in The West/Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Wilson Chapel Cemetery (next to her husband: Charles, who passed away in 1981) Oak grove, Texas near Kaufman. Besides her husband: Charles, Mrs. Washam was preceded in death by her brother: Woodie Benson, granddaughter in law: Sherry Wilshire Brooks, and son in law: Gerald Brooks. Survivors include her son: Randy Washam, daughter: Charlene Brooks, two grandsons: Gregg and his wife: Vanessa Brooks of Highland Park, Texas and Brian and his wife: Jennifer of Forney, Texas, four loving great grandchildren: Ian and Sarah Brooks and Ian and Lucy Harrington.
Mrs. Washam was born and raised in Kaufman, Texas. Later she and her husband moved to Dallas, and finally she came to DeSoto, She had been the longest survivor of Alzheimers at Park Manor, where she lived the last twelve years. She passed away at the Odessy Hospice Unit of Methodist Charlton Hospital in Dallas, Texas. A member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Washam was a wonderful sunday school teacher, and also taught sunday school teachers how to teach. She was charitable, giving of herself, outgoing, loved to be with groups of people having fun, and loved talking to everyone.
