Audrey M. Gayda, 87, of Desoto, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 8AM at Charlton Methodist Hospital Dallas Texas, following a period of declining health. She was born on January 28, 1935 in Buffalo, New York to the late Aubrey and Dorthy Rogers. She retired from the city of Desoto planning and zoning commission January 1997 and was a faithful member of Windsor Park Baptist Church in DeSoto. She is survived by her sons Darryl and Brad Cambra. Also daughter in love Gloria and granddaughter Angelica Cambra and brother James Rogers. She was preceded in death by a son Mark Cambra, brother Tom Rogers and sister Dorothy Frank. Audrey’s first husband Howard Cambra passed away December 21, 1969, she later married John Gayda in September 1989 who went to be with the Lord in September 2010. She has many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly. Audrey was a devoted cancer center volunteer for over 22 years. She was a breast cancer survivor and was very involved in the Duncanville Baylor Scott & White Cancer Center’s monthly support group. She would often call members to comfort them and to check on them. She was also involved in multiple local prayer groups. She joined Christian groups to put out Christian literature and evangelistic materials to hurting people, she loved winning souls for Jesus Christ. She loved God, family, friends, games, music, dancing & life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She had a sweet spirit that was contagious. The family will receive friends for viewing and visitation at West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Saturday - November 05, 2022 from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. with A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 A.M. (same day) at Windsor Park Baptist Church, 750 W. Pleasant Run Rd., DeSoto, TX with Pastor Matt Zamudio and Pastor Darryl Cambra, officiating. Desert and fellowship to follow. The family would like to express their gratitude to the health care workers at Methodist Charlton Hospital and to the many friends that cared for her during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windsor Park Baptist Church in DeSoto.
