Barbara Leftwich-Mayer

Barbara Leftwich-Mayer of Hideaway, Tx, and previously of Desoto, Texas, died Feb. 20, 2014 in Tyler. She was born Feb. 24, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was a devoted daughter of Arkansas who also loved being in Texas with her family and many, many friends. A dedicated public servant, she was a transportation planner for several City and County agencies, retiring from Ellis County in 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Whisenhunt and Mary Leding Peed. Barbara is survived by her husband: Gordon Mayer, Jr. of Hideaway, sons: Stefen Glenn of Moore, TX and Zachary Leftwich of Austin, daughter: Danielle Walker, five grandchildren: Haley, Stefan, Ian, Joseph, and Daniel, brother and sisters: Beverly Hayes of Dallas, Larry Whisenhunt of VanBuren, Arkansas, and Joan Bell of Waco, many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 A. M. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the Chapel of WEST/HURTT Funeral Home.
