Brent Johnson

72, of DeSoto, TX passed away on November 24, 2011. Born in Livia, Kentucky, son of a coal miner and homemaker. He was one of eight children. Serving in the Air Force, Brent was stationed in Alaska prior to moving to Texas where he met Mary. They have been blessed with a 48 year marriage. Brent was a longtime member of DeSoto Church of Christ. Brent was an automobile enthusiast and loved restoring classic cars. He was also a wood craftsman, building many projects for his family from picture frames all the way to barns! Known as the "fix anything" guy, Brent had a big heart to go along - always doing for those he loved, but with his own flair. Brent is survived by his wife: Mary Johnson; daughters: Debbie & her husband Greg Lewis and Amy & her husband Fred Gillespie; granddaughter: Grace Gillespie; sister: Jane & her husband Tom Blue; twin sister: Brenda & her husband Tom Sanders; brother: Garth & his wife Scarlett Johnson and a host of nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:NOON at which time the Funeral Service will begin in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home with Friend, Wendell Stewart, officiating. Interment will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX. The family requests memorials or donations be made in Brent's name to either the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
