Calvin Fred Oldham

84, of DeSoto, Texas went to see Jesus on February 26, 2013. Funeral and Homegoing Celebration Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday - March 5, 2013 at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 115 W. Beltline Rd., DeSoto, Texas 75115 (972-230-4477) with Rev. Oscar D. Epps, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 P.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX. A Wake Service will be held from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday night at Community Church, also. Memorials are encouraged to the American Heart Association. Mr. Oldham was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 12, 1928. he was a Veteran of WWII in the U. S. Navy. He retired from the Chicago Transit Authority and moved to DeSoto in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Velma E. Oldham, daughters: Phillis J. Smith and Roosevelt Shepherd of DeSoto, Denise C. Nichols and her husband, Cortez of Des Moines,Iowa, and Lynn M. Sanders, and her husband, Jerry of DeSoto, 9 grandchildren: Armand Smith and wife, Miwa Akiyama-Smith, Vaughan Terrance Smith, Cortez Nichols, Jr. and wife, Sherrie, Niema Collins and husband, Julian, Cyrus Nichols, Christopher Battle and wife, Kristin, Christina Battle, Jeremy Sanders, and Deion Sanders, 9 great grandchildren, brother: Alvin Oldham and his wife Jackie of DeSoto. He was also preceded in death by his brother: James Oldham and sister: Elizabeth Mae Oldham.
