Cardis "Gene" Eugene Spurgin

74, of DeSoto, TX, was born in Allen, Texas and passed away on November 09, 2012 at his home in DeSoto. He retired from Dallas County as a Road and Bridge foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Lucille Compton Spurgin, step-mother: Betty Elkins Spurgin, son: Steve Spurgin, a brother: George Spurgin, and sisters: Lurline Echols and Ruth Oakley. He is survived by his wife: Rita Spurgin; children: Paul & wife Diane Spurgin, Rachel & husband Allen Conte and Veronica & husband Jimmy Furse; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: Roy Elcany Spurgin, Jr., Charles Ray Spurgin and Bill Spurgin. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at the funeral home, and there will be a Funeral conducted at 2 P. M. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the WEST/HURTT Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bray officiating and Sean Davis offering personal reflections. Cremation will follow the services.
