Carla Schulze was born on August 29, 1960 in Oak Cliff, Texas, the second child of Alton & Betty (nee: Shelling) Schulze. She was born again into the family of our Lord through the waters of Holy Baptism (Titus 3:5-7) on October 9, 1960. She was confirmed in the faith on June 10, 1973 at St. Mark, Waco, TX.
As a young child, Carla grew up in Oak Cliff , TX. She was educated and attended Grace Lutheran School through 8th grade. She then attended Carter High School and graduated in 1978. After graduating from High School she immediately began working for J. C. Penny Corporation and continued to work for 21 years. She also worked, for a short period of time, for Kohl’s department store. She retired from working to take care of her dad after her mother passed away from Lung Cancer in 2000.
Carla loved her dog – Mitzi – which was a gift to her from her brother, Ronnie. Carla, being the good German that she was, also loved German Sausage and Sauerkraut and Polka dancing. She, also, enjoyed “Retail Therapy” – read – shopping. She loved working on crossword puzzles and playing Solitaire but she really loved watching the “I Love Lucy” show.
She was always faithful to her Lutheran roots. She joined Cross of Christ with her parents and was a charter member. Carla and her father, Alton, encouraged each other to get to church and were faithfully attending until the Covid breakout of 2020.
In recent years Carla, was diagnosed with COPD and suffered periodically with difficult breathing. She eventually succumb to the effects of diminishing health due to COPD and passed away on the evening of March 21, 2021.
Carla is survived by her Father, Alton; and sister-in-law Janet Schulze and many cousins and cousins once removed. Carla was preceded in death by: her mother, Betty and brother, Ronnie.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home.
