Carolyn K. Bush

September 1, 1947 — February 16, 2017

Carolyn Kae Petalos was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 1, 1947, minutes after her twin sister Marolyn.  She graduated from Cedar Falls (IA) High School in 1966 and moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked as a dental assistant and a bus line stewardess.  She obtained her nursing degree in 1978 and served as a nurse for nearly 40 years in many capacities.  Her passion was helping people and having a positive impact on her patient’s lives. Outgoing and fun-loving, Carolyn famously never met a stranger and greeted everyone who crossed her path as a life-long friend.  She assigned to those closest to her an endearing nickname, many of which we will continue to use.  She loved dogs, sending cards with stickers, and collecting religious artifacts.  Carolyn adored her granddaughter Katelyn, and she was the apple of her eye.  She was spiritual person and loved God and Christ her Savior.  Later in life, she and her husband Bob Bush enjoyed attending Texas Rangers baseball games, Baylor women’s basketball games, and going on cruises. She is survived by her husband, Robert Bush; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Matt Stiver; son and daughter-in-law Spencer and Kristen Rodamaker; granddaughter Katelyn Stiver; twin sister and brother-in-law Marolyn and Bryan Wemert; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Emanuel and Clara Petalos and sister Elaine Cox. The family will receive friends in the West/Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 10:15– 11am. The funeral service will then begin at 11am the same day.
