Carolyn Hobbs

81, of DeSoto, TX passed away on April 19, 2019. Carolyn was a vibrant member of several groups that serve in many ways throughout the community: Meals on Wheels, Brighter Tomorrows Outreach, DeSoto Food Pantry, Methodist Charlton, Methodist Central Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church of Desoto. She worked with devotion in many capacities and on many projects, including Great Days of Service, a program that provides much needed health comfort supplies such as chemo caps, lap robes and heart pillows for the community. All of the items are handmade then distributed throughout the local communities. Carolyn was a woman of faith. She developed the gifts God gave her and always used those gifts to love and encourage others. She is survived by her children:  Leslie Russell, James Hobbs (Patricia Hobbs), Lynda Hobbs and Margaret Hobbs (Bill King); grandchildren:  Roger Hinkle (Veronica Trevino), Jennifer Hobbs and Benjamin Hobbs; sisters:  Lois Whitaker, Beverly Johnston and Frances Carrouth and numerous other family members and many friends. The family will receive friends at West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - April 23, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 310 Roaring Springs, DeSoto, TX 75115 on Wednesday - April 24, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Kevin Strempke and Mr. Ken Kelley, officiating. Interment will follow in Forreston Cemetery, Forreston, TX. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials or donations be made in Mrs. Hobbs' name to either the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or American Diabetes Association.
