December 1, 1931 — June 5, 2016

Catherine (Cass) Jane Weinhardt Alven, 84, of Dallas, passed away on Sunday June 5, 2016. Cass was born on December 1, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic High School. Cass married the love ofher life, Richard Henry Alven, on Thanksgiving Day 1952. That began a love story that lasted nearly 64 years. Cass was a devoted wife and mother who traveled extensively and enjoyed tennis and bowling. She was also an avid reader and had a love of poetry. Cass was an active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. She loved family and appreciated the many friendships made along her eighty four year journey. Cass was kind and generous to all that were fortunateenough to know her. Her patience had no bounds which her two sons can attest to. She would have been content to live in Philadelphia her entire life, however opportunities came along that resulted in moves to Mercerville, NJ; Glendale AZ; Clearwater FL; Marietta GA; Dallas TX, Wycoff, NJ and then back to Dallas to be close to her children and grandchildren. Cass is survived by her beloved husband, Richard, children Richard Jr. (Grace), Jane (Rita), and Robert (Hanneke), grandchildren Bill (Katy), Candice (Derek), Katie (Jason), Richard III (Alyce), Hank, Elizabeth and Megan and great grandchildren, Hudson and Ryder. The family would like to thank the staff at Belmont Village, Visiting Angels, UT Southwestern Hospital, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cass' memory can be made to the Red Cross of North Texas (redcross.org). Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 13 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 4015 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, Texas 75224. The Rosary will be at 10 AM followed by the Mass at 11 AM.
