Chaplain Lt. Col. Philip E. Grimmett, 83, known best as Ed born in Corsicana, TX on December 5, 1930 to Philip and Ina Mable Grimmitt; one brother, Walter Carl Grimmett; married Frances Brister on June 4, 1953. Philip had three children, Lee (deceased, 1999) Tim and Jan Grimmett; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He will be missed by all. At age of 20 called into the ministry-From that time on he served God and country-in the church and in the Air Force as a chaplain. He served in 7 different countries and 7 different states. He served in the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iranian Conflict and Granada. He had graduated from SMU, held a BA, Masters and a Degree from Perkins School of Theology. His friends and family will gather at Sanders Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013 at West/Hurt Funeral Home in DeSoto, TX. Interment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
