Charles “Bo” Bolanz Miller

May 10, 1939 — December 25, 2018

On the morning of December 25th, 2018, Dallas lost a favorite son.  Charles “Bo” Miller went to be with His Lord on Christmas Day. Bo was born on May 10, 1939 to W.C. (Dub) Miller and Nell Bolanz Miller. He was baptized at First Presbyterian Church and later moved north with his family as founding members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. Bo, a proud Hillcrest High School Panther, received his bachelor’s degree Cum Laude from Austin College in 1961. There, he led the Kangaroo football team as an All-American quarterback.  Each year, the Austin College Athletics Department honors  Bo’s legacy of athletic and academic excellence by awarding one man and one woman  “The Charles Bo Miller Scholar/Athlete Award”. He earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Returning to Dallas he joined the family business, Bolanz & Miller Realtors. Alongside his father and brother, Bo helped shape the Dallas landscape and business community for over 50 years, including the creation of Thanks-Giving Square. Due to his ethical business acumen and warm nature, the Dallas real estate community called upon Bo regularly for assistance throughout his career. Bo was a humble servant-leader who spent countless hours on many boards, church vestries, task forces, chambers of commerce, business associations, planning commissions and annual campaigns. He coached and mentored dozens of youths and young adults throughout his life. He was especially passionate about his involvement in the Salesmanship Club, Worldwide Voice in the Wilderness, the Coaches Outreach and Trinity Christian Academy. Bo Miller loved people, and they loved him. He was magnetic and brought light into every room he entered by virtue of his joyous presence. An elegant man with a grand heart, he never spoke ill of others and was an inspiration and encouragement to all who knew him. He lived by his life principles:  Give your best effort, Treat everyone the same, Never give up and Give God the glory. Bo was welcomed into his heavenly home by his parents and grandson, Charles. He is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Lasandra Miller, and their children, Scott (Libby), Andrea (Brad) and Jeanne (John). “Daddy Bo” will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Brooke (Matt), Merit, William, Travis, Miller, Harper and JB; his brother Will C. Miller III (Judy), nephews Wes (Kristi), Justin (Lindsey) and their families. Family visitation on Sunday, January 6th at 4329 Glenwick Lane from 2 to 5 pm. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 8th at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church (9800 Preston Road, Dallas) with a reception to follow.
