Cheryl Renee Garnett

January 28, 1963 — October 1, 2016

Cheryl Renee Garnett passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2016.  Born January 28, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, Cheryl graduated from DeSoto High School in 1981.  She worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for many years, attended The Court Reporting Institute of Dallas and worked in that industry, and lived in Cedar Creek, Tyler, and Flint, Texas, before moving to the Lake Whitney area shortly before she died. Cheryl was a creative and talented person who loved to make or find the “perfect” gift for family and friends.  She loved to write letters and send cards, remembering birthdays and special events with handwritten notes and home-baked cookies.  She was thoughtful and caring, and enjoyed giving everything her personal touch.  A lifelong animal lover, Cheryl adored her many cherished pets like they were her children.  Her Boo-Kitty and Clint from Flint were two of her most precious babies. Her love for family sparked an interest in genealogy, and she published her research for everyone to share and enjoy.  She always wanted to connect with people, and bring them together. She also had a keen interest in antiques, reading extensively and learning all she could about her beautiful collections.  Like her vintage glassware, she was full of sparkle and light. Cheryl was a uniquely joyful person. She was extremely fun-loving and embraced all that life had to offer.  Although she battled illness for many years, she was always smiling and optimistic. Most of all, she liked to laugh and love. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie (Stanley) Garnett, and father, Paul Clay Garnett.  She is survived by her brother, Brad Garnett and wife, Kim; godson Jackson Garner LeMond; loving friends Nancy Barber, Greg, Janey and Colton Hood; and countless other beloved family and friends. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Monday - October 10, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at 3:30 P.M. (all on the same day) in Oakwood Cemetery, 1394 W. Main St., Whitesboro, Grayson Co., TX 76273.
