Christina Ann Bolin was born on September 13, 1939, in Bell, California to William P. and Dana M. Short. Chris was 85 years old and passed peacefully on May 14, 2025, from complications from COPD and Congestive Heart Failure in her home, surrounded by her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy as bold and unforgettable as the life she lived. She was known lovingly to her family and friends as someone that lived on her own terms. She didn’t sugarcoat things, brought a fiery spirit, and a sharp wit. She offered hard-earned wisdom laced with humor. Her stubborn streak was legendary, but so was her compassion and loyalty. She also leaves behind countless stories, sharp one-liners and cherished memories that will be retold for generations. She was the eldest child in her family with a brother, Steve Short, who lives with his wife, Barbara Short and their family in Buda, Texas. Chris was married to Lonnie H. Bolin from May 9, 1958, until his passing on July 20, 2001. They had two children, Russell Bolin, wife Carol, and Sunny Bolin-Alaniz. They had four granddaughters, Candace Burke, husband Mark; Mallory Roland, husband Cody; Payton Hollingsworth, husband Kelly; and Michaela Alaniz, fiancé Dylan Ihlenfeldt. They also had four great-grandchildren, Cohen Burke, Stella Burke, Hayes Burke and Melody Roland. Chris was an entrepreneur, owning DeSoto Office Supply for over a decade. She later worked at Brookhollow Country Club for a number of years – a job she really loved. Her love for animals brought her to work at a veterinarian clinic until she retired. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and picked up numerous strays from the ditches near her home. She always had a bowl of food outside her home for the stray cats. Chris also served as a member of the American Business Women’s Association where she acquired many lifelong friends. During her retirement, she took care of both her parents during their aging years, allowing them to pass peacefully in their own home. Chris was preceded in death by her parents William P. and Dana M. Short and her husband, Lonnie H. Bolin. The family would like to express such gratitude to Jan Burnett, Chris’ caretaker that has lived with her for the last three years. Jan, thank you for sacrificing your life to help Chris. You will never know how much we appreciate you. We want to also thank Bristol Hospice for their unwavering support to help Chris at the end of her life. Bristol Hospice also took care of Chris’ aging parents at the end of their lives. We so appreciate it. Rest easy, Mama. The fire you lit still burns. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - May 20, 2025 from 10 - 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Chaplain Curtis Clements, officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, TX.
