Clive Dale Mc Bride

Dale McBride passed away peacefully Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 93.

Survivors are daughters Sherry May of Big Sandy Texas and Cindy Lentner of Dallas; grandchildren: Caryn Matatall of Big Sandy, Mel Harper of Flint Texas and his wife Christine, Brandy Pletcher of Frisco and her husband Mark; great grandchildren Megan Harper, Morgan Harper, Marcus Harper, Keaton Pletcher and Hudson Pletcher. He is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Patricia McBride and two sons, Gary and Scot McBride.  Dale grew up in Oklahoma and joined the Navy at age 16.  He served from 1943 to 1946 as a radio operator in a squadron that rescued downed pilots and crews in the Pacific during World War II.  Upon discharge from the Navy, he held a variety of interesting jobs including factory-trained Harley- Davidson motorcycle mechanic.  After moving to Dallas in 1953, he worked for 25 years at Frozen Food Express trucking company; first as an owner/operator and then as fleet maintenance supervisor.   When he retired, he owned a boat repair shop in DeSoto Texas for several years and was known fondly to many people in the area as “Boatman”.  He was an active member of the DeSoto Elks Lodge for a number of years.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, dominoes and trivia.  He was an enthusiastic cook and loved collecting and sharing receipes.  One of his well-known trademarks was a great sense of humor and he loved telling jokes.  Dale lived life and was a friend to many.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom and enough happy memories to last a lifetime.

Dale will have a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at West/Hurtt Funeral Home, 217 S. Hampton Rd., DeSoto, Texas 75115.  Entombment of Cremains with U. S. Navy Honors will be at 1:00 p.m. on  Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, Texas 75224.
