With deepest sorrow and heartbreak, we announce Connor Anthony Garrick passed away suddenly at the age of 18, on Friday, November 13, 2020 while in the hospital. Connor was known to everyone who met him as a “gentle giant”. His sense of humor was infectious and came so naturally. He was soft-spoken and shy at first glance. However, when he got comfortable with you, the jokes would not stop. He enjoyed watching football, cooking, playing video games, work at his part-time job and spending time with his loved ones. Connor was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, coworker, student, teammate and friend. He enjoyed cooking and baking cookoffs with one of his cousins Lauren while visiting family in Louisiana. He inherited the famous Phillips cooking gene from his late grandmother, Anna. He had dreams of being a business owner and utilizing his welding skills. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Garrick, his sister, Chasity Collins, paternal grandmother, Gladys Young and maternal grandmother, Anna Marie Cormier. Connor is survived by his mother, Bridget Cormier (Dave) and sisters, Arianna Cormier and Olivia Shepard of Dallas, Texas; grandfathers, Ludger Cormier of St. Martinville, Louisiana and Jerome Garrick of Lake Charles, Louisiana; siblings, Rockell Joseph (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Texas, Ania Lafleur of Lafayette, Louisiana, Keith Richard, Anthony Garrick Jr. and Amyjah Garrick of Opelousas, Louisiana and a "bonus sister: Maci Robertson of Dallas, TX; aunts, Shanta Richard (David) and Lucresha Cormier of St. Martinville, Louisiana; uncles, Donny Garrick and Kenneth Garrick of Opelousas, LA; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. FOLLOWING ALL COVID GUIDELINES: A viewing will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 at West-Hurtt Funeral Home in Desoto. Texas from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. At a later date, a memorial will be held at St. Michael’s Mausoleum (St. Elizabeth’s Walk) in St. Martinville, Louisiana where Connor will be laid to rest with his loving Granny, Anna Marie.
