Daryle Lynn Grounds beloved brother, uncle and friend was born on January 25, 1951. Daryle attended Texas A&M University. He served a stint in the Marine Corps before graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. His CPA certification and state license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant was earned shortly afterwards. In 2017, Daryle retired from HCA Healthcare in McKinney. Daryle was a Vietnam veteran. He completed his military service as a Corporal in August of 1972. The honors he earned were Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Sharpshooter badge, Bronze Star, Medal Combat V. Other medals included were: National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, and a Navy Unit Commendation ribbon. Daryle considered the men of Sub Unit One 1st ANGLICO his "band of brothers". They were actively involved in the Easter Offensive of 1972. Daryl had a single life. His airplanes were his children. From an early age, he had an all-consuming interest in airplanes. His love of flying characterized much of his life's work and devotion. Daryle built many model airplanes in his early years. As an adult, he built a single place Pitts from scratch which he flew in aerobatic competition. He also built an RV-7 which he flew for the last time in May 2024. At the time of his death, he had a Taylorcraft 80% completed. Daryle is survived by 3 siblings: Sandra McCraray of Lake Jackson, Texas, Glenn Grounds of Waxahachie, and Jimmy Grounds of Streetman, Texas. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews: Tiffany Heathcock of Pearland, Texas, Ty McCraray of Woodland, Texas, Jennifer Misemer of Oak Leaf, Texas and Kelly Ivey of Richmond Texas. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother; Henry "Hoss" Grounds and June Grounds of DeSoto, Texas. Daryle considered everyday a gift after the Vietnam Easter Offensive in 1972. He left the earthly bonds of gravity for his final flight on January 8, 2025. Visitation will be from 11 am until noon on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the West / Hurtt Funeral Home Funeral Services will follow at noon on the 16th in the Funeral Home Chapel Interment: Wheatland Cemetery with Military Honors by the U S Marine Corp.
