Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the funeral home. A Memorial Service is scheduled at 2:00 pm on Sunday January 31st at First United Methodist Church of Red Oak, 600 Daubitz. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to James and Dorothy Dean Corrales. Being competitive by nature Dennis played on select baseball teams with his brother Russell growing up along with developing a love for motorcycling and NASCAR. He met his wife, Mary Rose, in April of 1993 and they married in May 1994 at Wheatland Road United Methodist Church initially living in Glenn Heights, Texas then Red Oak, Texas.
Dennis was an inspiration to many youth in the Red Oak and Waxahachie community as coach and mentor. He coached softball with daughter Tasha in the ROBSA and in the Waxahachie YMCA with his niece Lauren Smith. Additionally he coached basketball in the Red Oak Youth Basketball Association with daughter Destiny. While coaching he also played in adult leagues from softball to bowling.
Dennis was an avid outdoorsman loving to fish, hunt, four-wheeling and camping. He had to have fished in just about every lake in North Texas from Joe Pool, Fork, Bardwell to Texoma plus many in Louisiana. Never missing a deer season he had just finished his fall passion with his friend Joel Bursby and on occasion his daughter Destiny, all wearing their “camo”. Often went with his brother’s-in-law Gary and Tim to quail hunt Terlinqua Ranch in Southwest Texas. Mary Rose and Dennis often loved to camp at Lake Bardwell and Lake Whitney taking there jet ski and the fishing boat of course.
Dennis was an accomplished carpenter working in the construction business from new homes to reconstruction working in Mississippi for a time after Hurricane Katrina. Visiting Dennis on any day of the week at his home might find him working on some project dealing with wood work. His passing was so unexpected on January 28, 2010 at home. Proceeded in death by mother Dorothy Dean Corrales, and Father James S. Corrales. He is survived by wife Mary Rose, children Haley, Brandon, Tasha, Daniel and Destiny. Brother Robert and wife Jan of Springhill, LA, their children Bert and Mimi, four grandchildren Brittnay, Kilie, Ty and Peyton. Brother Russell and wife Deborah of Homer, LA. Brother Donnie and wife Teri of Duncan, OK, their children Codie, Jacob, Samantha, Amber and April, grandson Blayton. Sister Madeline Sue Puhl of Shreveport, LA. Father-in-law Gabe Ferraro of Red Oak, TX. Brother-in-law Gary Ferraro and wife Barbara of Arlington, TX, their children Nicole, Chris, Brandon and Sean, grandchildren Lily and Marshall. Tim Ferraro and wife Teresa of Dallas, TX, their children Anna, Anthony, Amelia and Aidan. Brother-in-law David Smith and wife Annette of Red Oak, TX, their children Danielle, Lauren (Red) and David, Jr.
