Don R. Bullard

August 18, 1932 — February 14, 2010

Born in Dallas, Texas, Don grew up and attended Lancaster Public Schools. He was in the U. S. Air Force from 1949 to 1952. He was a trustee for the DeSoto Independent School District from 1963 to 1966. He helped organize the first Little League Baseball organization in DeSoto in the 1960's. At that time, they started with two teams, the "Green Caps" (the team he coached) and the "Red Caps". The color of their cap was their uniform. He retired from Texas Instruments in 1985 after 30 years. His last employment was with AAFES, retiring in 1999. He married his high school sweetheart, Winona Trees, and they would have been married 59 years this March 17. He dearly loved his family, and his family will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents,Jay and Beulah (Bayless) Bullard. He is survived by his wife, Winona, son, Tommy Bullard, daughters, Donna Verheyden and husband, Paul, Ramona Ames and her husband, John, all of DeSoto, grandchildren, Jody Bullard, Kay Lynn Verheyden, Phillip Verheyden, Vincent Verheyden, Kristen Verheyden, Hannah Ames, and Jacob Ames, sister, Jadene Wiggins of Wills Point, TX. Pallbearers will be Jody Bullard, Phillip Verheyden, Vincent Verheyden, Wayne McLemore, Ryan Trees, Adam Trees. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N. Hampton Road, DeSoto, TX 75115 with Dr. Jerry R. Raines, officiating. Interment will follow at Trees Cemetery in Duncanville. Memorials are encouraged to the Carter Blood Care, Development Department, 2205 Hwy 121, Bedford, TX 76021
