Donald Eugene Miller March 19, 1929 – December 6, 2018.   Don Miller was born on March 19, 1929 in Sedalia, MO. The second child of Elmer and Emma (nee Tschorn) Miller. He was born again into the family of our Lord on April 7, 1929 through the waters of Holy Baptism (Titus 3:5-7). He was confirmed in his faith in Christ on March 29, 1942. As a young child, Don grew up California Missouri and Memphis Tennessee where he graduated from High School. He attended University of Missouri for one year before moving to Texas to help his father. Shortly after being in Texas he was drafted into the service of our nation in 1950. He served our nation during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for injury sustained during combat. Don returned to Dallas after his service to our nation where he met and married Grace (nee Quiram) on November 1, 1952. Don began working for Chance–Vought as an aircraft machinist but was layed off after a few years of work. He became an Aid Associations for Lutherans/ Thrivent representative and continued working until his retirement in 1993. Don and Grace were members of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. During their membership at Grace he served as the President of the congregation and held many other offices and positions. He enjoyed singing in the choir. They became charter members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in DeSoto, Texas in 1983. Don has served as President, Vice President, Head Elder and on the Building Committee, as a Bible class teacher and many other various positions in the church. In his free time, Don enjoyed basketball, as a young man, gardening, the outdoors, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and an occasional game of golf. His great love was reading his Bible and the classic works and confessions of the Lutheran Church. Don is survived by his wife: Grace; sons and daughters-in-law: Randy & Melanie Miller and Chuck & Tonia Miller; Rusty & Janet Miller; grandchildren: Tiffany, Joshua, Shawn, Nathan, Jordan, Ashley, Matthew, Joel Patrick, Elise, Kelsey, Shelby, and Bethany; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Arline and Mary; and many other relatives.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at WEST/HURTT Funeral Home in DeSoto.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church 512 N. Cockrell Hill Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115.  Pastor John DeYoung, officiating.  Interment with Military Honors conducted by the U S Army will follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
