Douglass James Bachman, 71, of DeSoto, TX, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was born to the late Leo Jacob Bachman and Loretta Marie Rethmeyer Bachman on October 8, 1947 in Dallas, TX.
He was a graduate of Sunset High School. Doug married the love of his life on January 3, 1969. He was a loyal and dedicated husband for 50 years to his high school sweetheart. He was a wonderful dad and papa.
Doug owned his own home improvement company for over 40 years and was still actively working. He had a passion for creating new projects around the house and for helping many family and friends.
He loved sports. In his early years he coached and played softball and traveled to tournaments on the weekends. He was always watching sports and anyone who knew him knew he was a true Texas Longhorn fan. Doug enjoyed many outings at his grandson’s baseball games. He also loved vacationing with family and friends, especially cruises.
Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Kaye Bachman of DeSoto; son, Clinton Douglass Bachman of Austin; daughter, Jennifer Gail Bachman Czech and her husband, Stephen of Ft. Worth; grandson, Peyton Stephen Czech, granddaughters, Catherine Bailey Czech and Heather Jean Czech; brother, Lawrence Joseph Bachman; father-in-law, James Martin Chandler and mother-in-law, Mary Bell Chandler, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Leo Bachman, and sister, Sharon Masson.
Doug’s life will be honored and celebrated at a private memorial with family and friends.
