Dr. Allen M. Donnelly, M.D.

Allen Morgan Donnelly, M.D., passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. He was 84 years old. Allen Morgan Donnelly was born on June 15, 1938 in Paris, Texas to Dr. Allen Dalton Donnelly and Louise Donnelly. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School and attended West Point Military Academy before graduating from Rice University. He continued his education at Baylor College of Medicine, eventually specializing in the field of radiology. Dr. Donnelly proudly served in the United States Air Force as a military physician. He married Flora Hicks in 1963 and during their 43 years together had 4 children. Allen Donnelly was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He had a great passion for adventure and traveled the World including visiting exotic places such as Africa, China, Mongolia and South America. Dr. Donnelly piloted his own plane, often taking his family to intrepid foreign destinations. He loved the beach, big game hunting, the outdoors and experiencing different cultures. His passion for science, learning and medicine never ceased and he only retired from practicing medicine after he attained the age of 81. In his later years Dr. Donnelly enjoyed swimming, gardening, visiting museums, and playing chess with his grandchildren. Allen Donnelly was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Allen D. Donnelly and Louise Donnelly and his wife, Flora Hicks Donnelly. He is survived by his sister, Saza Dobie, his children, Bryan, Brenda, Allison, Alicia, Yendry and Katrina, and his grandchildren, Dean, David, Carson, Kate, Madison and Lauren. In lieu of flowers and with great appreciation, the family requests that donations be made to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society, a place he would often visit with his children and grandchildren. A bench will be dedicated in his name so that others can relax and enjoy the gardens he loved so much.
