Dr. Charles Ivan Willams Sr. was born on December 29, 1943 to John and Emma Virginia Williams. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 30, 2026 at the age of 82.
Charles attended Southern Methodist University, where he graduated with honors and played the French horn in the marching band. He then continued his education at Baylor College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
In the mid 1960s, Charles married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Hollingsworth Williams. Together, they took on the world of dentistry and impacted countless lives over the course of 50 years. Dr. Williams, infamously known as ‘Doc’, will be remembered for his smile, kind heart, sense of humor, his love of birthdays and Diet Coke, and his passion for positively impacting every patient that walked through his office doors.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Virginia, his wife Mary, his son Dr. Charles Ivan Williams II, and his siblings: Reverend Robert Williams, John Williams, and Betty Lowry.
He is survived by his daughters: Rachel (Tim) Hoover, Dr. Gina (Kayara Stocco) Williams, and Natalie Williams, along with his grandchildren, great grand children, and countless other family and friends.
The Williams family would like to say a special thank you to Elmo and Pearlene for caring for Charles in his final years, as well as to each and every one of his friends and patients for the their loyalty to and patience with Doc. Our family is deeply grateful for each and every one of you. Additionally, we would like to thank members of his office staff (Michelle, Nicki, Eidarlenne, Miroslava, Holly, Dee, Brenda, LaTonya, Carmen, and Dr. Burke) for their dedication to Dr. Williams and his practice.
A visitation for Dr. Williams will be held on Friday, July 10 at 10am followed by a celebration of life at 11am. Both will take place at West Hurtt funeral home in Desoto.
