Earl Arthur Finn, minister and World War II veteran, 90, passed away in Dallas, Texas, September 26, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born in Dade City, Florida, on December 4, 1926. After his parents separated during the Great Depression, his sister was sent to live with relatives while he and his four brothers were sent to a Catholic orphanage in Tampa, Florida. After leaving the orphanage, he worked different jobs including dental technician. He was drafted by the US Army in 1945 and served in Guam and Leyte. In 1963 after living the life as an alcoholic, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. At the church altar, God took the alcoholism away. Shortly thereafter, he was called into full-time ministry to the Native American children. He used his ventriloquist puppet, Juan Shirley, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to 89 different tribes across America, including the Havasupai in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Francis Finn and Amelia Julia Friebel, a sister, Kate, and four brothers, Ed, Joe, Fred, and Johnny. He is survived by Sheryl, his wife of 37 years and their three children, Gabriel, Anna, and Joel. He also leaves behind two children from a previous marriage: Paul (Linda) Finn of New York, and daughter, Lilly (Don) Allison of Irving, TX, grandchildren, Paul (Tina) Finn, Jr, Heather Finn Jones, Keturah (Alan) Quimby, and John Allison. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildrem and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
