Edwin B. Hopkins, 82, of Las Colinas, TX was born to Paul R. Hopkins and Elsie Steinberg on March 17, 1940 in Miami, FL. Surrounded by his family, love, laughter and tears, Ed joined the Lord on October 20, 2022 after a courageous battle with MDS/Leukemia. He spent his early childhood days in Grand Prairie, TX where he graduated high school. Ed continued his passion for learning and received his business degree from UT Arlington in 1968. Ed and his wife Dian moved to DeSoto, TX in 1972 where they raised their two daughters and met lifelong friends. His family and friends would describe him as a distinguished man of dry humor, and strong faith with an impeccable taste in fashion, cars and golf clubs. He was an austere man, with a kind heart and sentimental soul which was visible through his 59 years of marriage to his beloved “Phyllis Dian”, his many pets and later in life through his grandkids. He spent the majority of his career in Commercial Real Estate working for such pristine companies as Hunt Properties, Inc., Southern Federal Saving Banc and Commercial Net Lease Realty, Inc. He further advanced his career by earning the coveted Certified Commercial Investment Membership (CCIM) designation. After retirement, he sat on the Dallas County Appraisal District Review Board and continued to mentor, read business journals and the Bible, cover to cover. Ed was known as Papa to his five loving grandkids. They brought him tremendous joy and he supported and was deeply involved in all their endeavors from baking to playing drums/guitars to attending multiple sporting events and all school functions. Most importantly he was their biggest fan! He is survived by his wife Dian Hopkins of 59 years, his oldest daughter Andi Hopkins Pafford of Coppell and family (Brian, son-in-law, grandson Reed and granddaughter Claire); youngest daughter Amber Hopkins Barron of Trophy Club and family (Adam, son-in-law and three grandsons Aeden, Ashton & Asher).
