Eleanor "Chunk" Doretha Curry Moore

July 23, 1917 — April 24, 2014

"Chunk" was 96 years old, having been born in Ovilla, Texas on July 23, 1917, and passing away in Stephenville, Texas on April 24, 2014.  She was a descendant of many pioneer families in the South Dallas and Northern Ellis County areas including the Curry, Morris, White, Cheshier, and Parks.  She was nicknamed "Chunk" by her grandmother:  Maggie White.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years:  Frank M. "Johnny" Moore.  She was also preceded in death by her father and mother: Robert Leonard and Lillie Amelia Morris Curry, brother: Morris Leonard "Bud" Curry and his wife: Elizabeth Brownlee Curry, sister: Alta Lee Curry Rowe and her husband: Ralph B. Rowe, sister:  Jennie Ruth Curry, niece: Connie Sue Curry Hudspeth and brothers in law: Al Godwin and Earl Hale.Survivors include her son: James Ronald Moore and wife: Gwendolyn Turnbow Moore of Stephenville, son: Robert Charles Moore and wife: Terry Blacklock Moore of Lubbock, grandson: Matthew Curry Moore of Stephenville, granddaughters: Stephanie Hardeman of Dallas, Angela Moore of New York City, NY, Stacy Sutherland of Grapevine and Samantha Wilson of Grapevine, two step grandchildren: Cory Ward of Crowley and Brandee Price of Evergreen, CO, and 10 great grandchildren, sister: Theta Faye "Jackie" Hale."Chunk" retired, after 25 years of service in the credit department of Sears Roebuck and Company Southwest Territory.The family will gather at 1 P. M., Monday, April 28, 2014 to receive friends until the Funeral Service at 2 P. M. at Wheatland United Methodist Church, 8000 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, TX 75232.  (Wheatland UMC is located just north and east of the Intersection of I-20, Hampton Rd., and Wheatland Rd., directly behind the Wheatland Cemetery.)Interment will follow in Wheatland Cemetery.The family would like to especially recognize the loving care and companionship given to Doretha in her later years by GoodTree Assisted Living in Stephenville.The family requests Memorials in Mrs. Moore's name be made to:  the National Fragile X Foundation, 1615 Bonanza St., Suite 202, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.   www.fragilex.org  800.688.8765  (Thank you!)
