Elizabeth Maria Hartzell (Nee Wildor), residing in Summit Estates Development in Waxahachie, TX died on February 25, 2021. Betty was born on November 19, 1934 in Queens, NY, to Clara T. and Joseph H. Wildor. She lived in the New Brunswick, NJ area until she married her husband John in 1966. Prior to moving to Texas in 2017, she lived in Lawrenceville and Hamilton NJ for over 45 years.
Betty graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953. She attended evening programs at Rutgers University while acting as primary caretaker for her ailing mother.
Betty worked for 14 years as an Executive Secretary at Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick. While at the Permacel Division, she was Secretary to the Director of Personnel, Director of Manufacturing and Director of R&D, at the Tavolek Division, Secretary to the Director of Finance and lastly Administrative Assistant to the J&J Corporate VP of Research. For several years she was a Volunteer in the Lawrence Township School System. As a Volunteer she ran the Helping Hands Program for the School District and Police Department.
Betty was thankful for her wonderfully happy life with her family. She was dedicated to caring for her Daughter, Susan. Betty had a deep and abiding faith, loving her church. We shall miss her dearly, until we reunite with her.
Betty is survived by her Daughter Susan, Son Karl, and Daughter in Law Rebecca of Waxahachie; Sister Clara Craig of Blue Bell, PA; Niece Karen Buckley and Husband Robert of South Carolina; Grand Nephews Michael Lodato of Florida and David Lodato of New Jersey; Cousins Richard and Roanne Hartzell of Pennsburgh, PA and the Zdeasar Clan of South Carolina, Florida, and Costa Rica.
There will be no calling hours—Betty’s body has been cremated.
A Requiem Eucharist in Thanksgiving for Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. April 24 at St. Anne Episcopal Church in DeSoto, TX. The Rev. David Miller officiating with close family friend Deacon Adriana Elliot assisting.
Internment of both cremains of John (passed in 2018) and Elizabeth will take place at St. Anne following services.
The Family suggests that in Lieu of flowers; Memorial contributions be made to St. Anne Episcopal Church.
