Elnora Goodnight Goldman

Ruby Elnora Goodnight Goldman was born August 13, 1933 and went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2016. She was the daughter of Ophelia Chisum and Alvin Smith of Hempstead County, Arkansas. Ophelia and Alvin had two children before Alvin died at a young age. Ophelia married Henry Gilbert and they had four children. Henry was the father figure for the family of six children. In 1948 Elnora moved to Texas. She lived with a relative and worked as a waitress in a truck stop. John Westley Goodnight was a truck driver. They met in the truck stop and were married in 1949. They had three children John Ricky, Joel Westley and Phillip Todd Goodnight. John Westley (J.W.) was a fire fighter for the City of Dallas and Elnora was a substitute teacher. John Westley passed away when he was 50. Elnora later married Emil Goldman. Elnora and Emil lived in DeSoto for many years. Elnora was preceded in death by her parents Alvin Smith, Ophelia Chisum Smith Gilbert, Henry Gilbert, her husbands John Westley Goodnight and Emil Goldman, and her sons John Ricky and Phillip Todd Goodnight. Survived By Siblings - Al Smith, Henry Dale Gilbert, Billy Joe Gilbert, Janet Jones and Linda Rosenbaum. Children – Son Joel Westley Goodnight and step-daughters Brenda Goldman Sulak and Linda Goldman Martin. Grandchildren – Amanda & husband Leland Reid and Stevie & husband Alan Prive; 5 Great Grandchildren and Special Friend – Jay Chancellor. The family will receive friends at West/Hurtt Funeral Home, 217 S. Hampton Rd., DeSoto, TX from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Friday - September 23, 2016. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 P.M. (on the same day) in Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 South R. L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX with Mr. Deryk Pritchard, officiating.
