Florene Hines, 92, a DeSoto resident for many years, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 27, 2016 at Windsor Rehab and Health Center in Terrell, Texas. Florene was born in Groesbeck, Texas on July 16, 1923. She married Billie Paul Hines on January 13, 1944. Florene came to DeSoto in 1953 and lived here for much of her life. Before the death of Mr. Hines, the family loved traveling on construction assignments with his work to Kentucky, Alabama, Maryland, Oklahoma, Fort Worth and especially Hawaii. Florene was active in the ABWA, Texas Tall Tale Book Club, helping with elections, and was active in her Church of Christ. Her husband: Billie Paul, a son: Paul Dan Hines and her parents: Carl and Inez Herring preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter: Janie and her husband: Gary Pettus of Terrell, grandson: Zachary Pettus and his wife: Kelly, great grandchildren: Aden, Kasia and Kylie Pettus, grandson: Zebulun Pettus, great granddaughter: Zariah Pettus, her sister: Reta and her husband: Arlon Howze, nephew: Kent Howze and his wife: Robin, great niece: Kasey Fisher, and her husband: Jerry, great nephew Garrett Howze, nephew: Alan Herring, Niece: Mickey Reagan, great nephew: David Reagan and great niece: Jessica, great great nephew: Gavin Reagan, nephew: Harvey Moody, niece: Darlene Durbin and family, and nephew: Clifford Herring and family.
Funeral Services for Florene Hines will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at The GracePlace of Duncanville Church of Christ, 402 W. Danieldale Rd., Duncanville, TX 75137. Jeff Conrad and Dr. Kent Howze will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church until service time.
A procession to Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas will follow for interment.
