Francis "Fritz" Paul Seidel

Frank (or 'Fritz') was born in Brooklynn, New York, December 26th, 1938 - the only child of Franz and Dorathea Seidel of Aschaffenburg, Germany. He grew up in Queens and graduated from Hicksville High School, Hicksville, New York. He attended art school, and shortly after graduation began a career in the U.S. Navy. Frank's love for aircraft developed at a young age, and this passion led to his enlistment in 1956 as a Selected Air Reservist in the anti-submarine Warfare Squadron. 22 years later, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer over a squadron of F-4's. While in the Navy he developed a special tail section for fighter aircraft and received the following accolades: - The Battle E Ribbon - National Defense Medal - 2x Armed Forces Reserve Medals - 5x Good Conduct Medals. While serving, Frank’s career took him to Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, California, and Texas. Frank went on to work for Vought and eventually retired from GTE/Verizon. Frank had a real passion for animals and opened his home and heart to many. Never was a stray a stray for long. He gave unselfishly to animal organizations, a favored cause of his. He was an avid bowler, playing in a league for many years. Frank enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson. Frank is survived by: his wife, Barbara Seidel, with whom he shared 29 years of a loving marriage. His son, Michael Seidel, daughter-in-law Aprille, and granddaughter Zoe. His step daughter, Sherry Tyler, son-in-law Douglas Tyler, grandchildren, Robert Tyler and Elaine Rogers, and the late Paul Burleson. His great-grandchildren Sean, Presley, and Delaney Rogers also Brittani, Stephanie and Christopher Burleson. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Mr. Seidel's name  to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284, 1-800-242-8721 or heart.org/giving.Please provide the charity with the family's name and address so acknowledgements may be sent.Memorial Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday-March 14, 2014 at 1:15 P.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75211. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at his home on Sunday-March 16, 2014 between 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. Frank's wishes were to have his mortal remains spread at sea in San Diego, California.
