Freddie Ruth Harbour November 7, 1944-July 3, 2026.
Freddie passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026 at her home in Waxahachie, Texas. Born on November 7,1944, Freddie lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, creativity, conviction, and independence. She persevered through her illnesses with grace and dignity.
Freddie was a 1962 graduate of Commerce High School where she made many friends. She participated in band playing the flute and was on the Majorette Team.
After high school, she worked for a lingerie company in Greenville TX and eventually moved there to be closer to work. Later, she worked for E-Systems/Raytheon for 37 years where she retired to spend time with family and friends. Eventually, she moved to Waxahachie with her sister to provide care for their mother. After some time, Freddie joined an art class and made close friends with the group, while perfecting her love of painting.
Freddie was known for her avid reading of novels, becoming a talented painter, flea market adventures, perusing museums, and enjoying a good steak dinner along with a Presbyterian. She was very dedicated to her family as a daughter, sister, Aunt, and friend. She always enjoyed conversation, telling stories of the past, and sending beautiful cards that seemed to be tailored to the person. Freddie was a modern renaissance woman armed with books, and gaining knowledge for whatever subject interested her. She was a soft-spoken woman but could stand her ground if needed and chuckle when the situation was humorous. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sister Cozette Foster of Arlington, TX and sister Linda Chandler of Carrolton, TX along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hazel & JE Harbour, brother Donald Wayne Harbour, brother Joe Harbour, sister and brother-in-law Jerry & Judy Oneal, sister and brother-in-law Annette & James Busby, and special friend Mike Oppenheimer.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Saturday - July 11, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M.
