passed away after a brief illness,
April 24, 2009, in Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by parents, Libby and Earl Ralston. Survived by sister Pam Ellard and nephew Adam Ellard. Fred began his love of music playing in the All-State band in high school and became a professional trumpet player. Fred played with the Mal Fitch and Jerry Gray orchestras at the Fairmont Venetian Room. Over time, Fred played for such personalities as Ella Fitzgerald, the Temptations, Gladys Knight and
the Pips, Tom Jones, Jack Benny,
and George Burns. Fred toured as
band leader for Jesse Lopez, played
trumpet for the Ringling Brothers,
Barnum and Bailey Circus, and
was a onetime member of the
DJO. At the time of his death,
Fred played with Chuck Arlington. Fred was also a master mechanic and had recently retired after 25 years with Sears. Services will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 Greenville Avenue, Richardson, at 2PM, Sunday, May 17, 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any charitable organization of your choice.
