Gabriel Jorge Badillo

February 15, 1946 — February 24, 2021

Gabriel J. "Dad" Badillo was born on February 15, 1946. Gabriel was called home on February 24, 2021. He was born in Harlingen, Texas to Gabriel and Celia Badillo.

Gabriel attended school in Harlingen and then as a minor, with his parents’ consent, enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1964. He then eventually moved to Ohio with his parents and brothers.  Gabriel would then start employment at General Motors. He loved all genres of music and played guitar in his own band. He was performing at a dance where he met the love of his life,  Mary Granados (Cona). They married in 1967 and a year later had their first child, Angela. Quickly after, he was called to serve in Vietnam. Gabriel was honorably discharged in 1970 after 6 years of service. Shortly there after, they had their only son, Marcelino.  Then, they moved to Dallas, Texas to help care for his Mother in Law, Bertha. It was in Dallas that they had their final child, Cynthia. The family resided in Dallas for 21 years and during that time, he made several friends and touched many people’s lives. Finally, Gabriel and Mary settled in Red Oak, Texas.

Gabriel was employed as a security guard for Citadel Security at AT&T until he retired. He enjoyed his retirement learning anything related to computers or technology which quickly became his passion. He loved reconnecting with old friends and family via Facebook. Gabriel was extremely happy to reconnect with his eldest daughter Leticia and his grandchildren. He loved printing and passing out photos of family any chance he got and his love of music never left him. Gabriel enjoyed all the precious moments he got to spend with his grandchildren and especially his great grandchild, Logan. Gabriel has left an imprint on MANY people's hearts and has built a legacy that his family will  continue to honor. Gabriel raised generations, he was, is, and always will be "DAD" to all.  Gabriel was preceded in death by his parents Gabriel and Celia Badillo and youngest brother Oscar Badillo.  His Survivors include: Brothers Gerardo and Carlos Badillo. Wife- Mary Badillo Daughter- Angela Badillo, granddaughter Alyssa

Son- Marcelino Badillo, granddaughter Ariana Daughter- Cynthia Barron, Son in Law - Richard, grandson Paul, granddaughter Melissa, and great grandson Logan Eldest Daughter- Leticia Badillo, Son in Law - Rafael, granddaughters Irene, Lydia, Darlyn, Evangelina, Sharon, and grandsons Angel, Rafael Jr. and 9 great grandchildren.

Gabriel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services with Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021 at DFW National Cemetery.  The U S ARMY will provide Military Honors.
