George Washington Jackson, Sr.

George went to be with his Lord and Savior January 9, 2012 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie, Texas at the age of 77. He was born November 12, 1934 in Summerville, Georgia to Marcus Emmert and Fannie Dora Lee Teems Jackson. He was married to Mae Hampton Jackson for 57 years. George had been a DeSoto fixture with his Gulf and Texaco Service Station at Hampton and Pleasant Run Rd. The last few years you would recognize George as a crossing guard protecting the school children as they crossed to school. Besides his wife Mae, he is survived by his children, Dennis and wife, Teri Jackson of Willis, TX, George W. Jackson, Jr of Glenn Heights, Denise and husband, Glen Anderson of Vero Beach, FL, Tammy and husband, Dean Patterson of Wills Point, TX, and Jimmy Jackson of Ovilla. Grandchildren, Kyle and wife Annette Jackson, Jamie Jackson, Jason, T.J. and James Neyra, Dee Dee Barnes and Dana Holder, Dabrina Scott, Jordan and Jake Jackson a number of Great Great Grandchildren and his brother, Robert Jackson of Greenville, TX. George was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, brother, Charles and grandson, Joshua Jackson. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Funeral Service held at 1 P. M. Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the Chapel of WEST/HURTT Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Hampton, officiating. Interment will follow at Rhodes Cemetery in DeSoto at a later date..
