George Franklin Thomason

86, U S Army Veteran, of Ovilla, TX passed away on August 06, 2016. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75211 on Thursday - August 18, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Larry Williams, officiating. George was born in Warren Arkansas to Dewey S and Opal E Thomason on April 9, 1930. He attended Hot Springs High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Razorback football team and a member of the Razorback track team. He married Lorraine Francioni on July 30, 1955 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. George was a physical therapist and retired from the Dallas VA Hospital after 32 years of service. George is preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Opal Thomason, his sister Linnie Wilkerson, and his brother Joe Thomason. George is survived by his wife of 61 years Lorraine Thomason, son Kyle Thomason and wife Catherine of Austin, Texas; Daughter Karen Trefelner and husband Rick of Gray, Georgia; Brother Dewey Thomason and wife Virginia of Birmingham, Alabama; Brother in law Lyle Wilkerson of Corona, California; Sister in law Susan Thomason of Taos, New Mexico and Grandchildren Nicolas Trefelner, Taylor Trefelner, and Chase Thomason In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association, Dallas TX Office, 4100 Alpha Road, Suite 100, Dallas, TX 75244.
