Georgia Nell "Jo" Woody

Georgia Nell (Jo) Woody, 86, of DeSoto, TX passed away Saturday September 25, 2021, in Cedar Hill, Texas following an extended illness. She was born July 13, 1935 to Alvin Coy and Mary Lee Cleveland in Frost, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Leonard Wayne Woody, on July 30, 2008. Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. She was a longtime resident of DeSoto having raised their children there, and in retirement, traveled in their camper extensively with their granddaughter, Ashtyn. She loved to crochet, cross stitch and collected china figurines of people kissing. She is survived by two sons, Clifford Wayne and Darren DeWayne, and one daughter, Sharice Love Woody. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber Ray Woody, Shelly Elizabeth Woody, Brittni woody, and Ashtyn D'ne Woody. Also surviving her are two sisters, Lavon Webb and husband, Billy, and Dianne Evans and Special Friend Raymond Luster. Many nieces, nephews, and nine great-grandchildren also survive her. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - October 12, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:NOON with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:NOON. Interment will follow in the D/FW National Cemetery, Dallas, TX (all on the same day). The Woody family wishes to express it heartfelt thanks to the nurses, aides, and friends at the Morada Care Facility for their devotion and kindness while caring for Mom.
