Glenda J. Henderson, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 21, 2019. Her husband, Earl preceded her in death on September 19, 2018
Glenda Kershner Henderson, was born on August 1, 1935, to Ernest and Mildred Kershner in Bonham, Texas. She graduated from Bonham High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, she moved in with her Aunt Mable in Dallas and graduated the Secretarial course at Rutherford-Metropolitan School of Business in 1954. After graduating she began working for the Bell telephone company. Glenda then married her love, Earl V. Henderson, in 1959 and they had two boys: Michael Joey Henderson and Earl Jay Henderson. Living in Cedar Hill, she found her passion for animals and quickly picked up her rehabilitating career. After years of living a country lifestyle together, Glenda and Earl moved to Thorntree Country Club where they spent the rest of retirement and lots of time with their grandchildren: Joely Rene Henderson and Jake Michael Henderson. She had many hobbies in which she enjoyed including: tennis, golf, skiing, ballroom dancing, trail riding, bird watching, and being an all around rock for her family. She was also a talented artist, poet, and photographer and used these skills to become one with nature and God. Glenda truly lived life to the fullest and spread her love and wisdom to all who would listen. She had a true caregivers heart and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons: Earl Jay Henderson and Michael Joey Henderson; and her two grandchildren: Joely Rene Henderson and Jake Michael Henderson
Visitation will be from 11 a.m to Noon on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at West/Hurtt Funeral Home in DeSoto.
Services will begin at 12 Noon on that Thursday in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home with Chaplin Chuck Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials or donations be made in Mrs. Henderson's name to either the American Parkinson Disease Association, Northeast Texas Chapter, 8330 Meadow Road, Suite 218, Dallas, TX 75231 or the charity of choice.
