Gordon "Flash" Campbell Faerber

94, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away on July 1st, 2024. Gordon Faerber was a husband, father, businessman, entrepreneur and consultant. He was born and raised in Chicago. After his marriage to Carol in 1949, he began his career there with Standard Oil. He soon moved to Ford Motor Company’s Aircraft Division as a purchasing agent, transferred to the automotive manufacturing section and stayed with them for 11 years. Gordon continued his career with American Brake Shoe, Weber-Costello and Rockwell International. After leaving Rockwell he began a second career in consulting culminating in a multi-year partnership with Bruske Brush Company. He invested in Wisconsin real estate and co-founded The Paperback Shop bookstore in Chicago Heights. Upon retirement, Gordon and Carol relocated to suburban Dallas. Gordon and Carol were active members of Flossmoor Community Church, Flossmoor, Illinois. In Chicago, he donated his time for several years teaching business classes at the New School and was honored by the Chicago Urban League as first recipient of the Friend of the Chamber award. He was a volunteer fireman with the Park Forest Fire Department and Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 331 in Chicago Heights. In Texas, he and Carol were active members of the Presbyterian Church. Gordon also became a Life member and three-time President of the DeSoto Lions Club, volunteered with the Dallas Heart Association, the Lupus Foundation and the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, where he was an Ambassador and very active in their programs. He founded a volunteer group of local business people to mentor new and struggling local businesses and help them succeed. Gordon was very proud of his commission as a Kentucky Colonel, presented by the Governor in recognition of his work researching the history of the city of Cynthiana. A branch of the family were longtime residents there. Gordon retired at age 57 and travelled widely with his wife, Carol. They loved cruising and sailed on over 30 voyages across the world. He was preceded in death by Carol, his wife of 67½ years. He is survived by: his three sons, Robert and his Wife Cathleen of Scottsdale, Arizona Richard of Scottsdale, Arizona and John and his Wife Jo Anne of DeSoto, Texas Granddaughter Christy Keefe and her Husband Dennis of South Orange, New Jersey Granddaughter Jennifer Osman of Desoto, Texas, and Great Grandsons Brendan and Patrick Keefe. A Celebration of his life will be held at Fountain View Village, Fountain Hills, Arizona on Saturday - July 27th, at 11:00 AM A Cryptside Service will be held in Little Bethel Memorial Park, Duncanville, TX on Saturday - August 17, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona
