Guadalupe Rodriguez

85, passed away on February 13, 2022. Guadalupe Castro Rodriguez “Lupe” was born November 14,1936 in Ranger, TX to her parents Jose and Maria Castro. She was the second to the oldest of the girls in her family of 11 children. Although the family was poor, they loved each other like no other, working together as a family. She married the great love of her life Paulino Rodriguez on May 23,1955. They were married 56 years before Paulino passed away March 4th,2011. Thorough out their marriage she worked doing laundry for families they traveled with on the railroads. She traveled through out the United States while working and in 1969 she got a job as a shirt presser with Town & Country Cleaners where she was employed over 25 years. She worked hard to make sure her family was taken care of. In 1970 Guadalupe and Paulino bought their first home in Cedar Hill, Tx. She was so excited to move into their new home. She brought up 6 children in this home 5 girls and 1 son. She was a giving and caring person who always thought of others first . She loved cooking for family and making her great tortillas and beans. Sharing whatever she could make in the kitchen to share even with the neighborhood kids. She treasured time with her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her grandchildren and they loved her by calling her G-Ma. Her great grandchildren called her Gigi and she loved them all and the name they had given her. She always gave them money to teach them how to save. But also, to buy what they wanted with their money they saved. She has a beautiful soul and gave plenty of hugs, smiles and love to go around to all. Mom will be missed and remembered for her kindness, generosity and love of her family and friends. The joy she would get when speaking about her family. We especially loved when we were leaving her, she would say God bless you and love you every time. So, to you Mom God Bless you, love you and rest in peace. She is preceded in death by her Mother Maria and Father Jose, Husband Paulino and Daughter Gloria. Also, by some of her siblings and in-laws. She is survived by 5 Children John & Linda Lowry of Waxahachie, TX, Michael & Helen Huddleston of Waxahachie, Tx, Paul & Jan Rodriguez of Waxahachie, TX, Tyler & Cindy Hancock of Ferris, TX, Robert & Margaret Owens of Cedar Hill,Tx. Grandchildren Jason & Misty Bennett, Mitchell & Shanlee Bennett, Brandon & Amanda Haslett, Scott & Jessica Benningfield, Drake Rodriguez & Emiley Herod, Joseph & Ashley Kennard, Jeremy Kennard & Shawney Lamberth, Avery Owens, Maya Owens, Caitlin Kennard & Kambryn Holly. Her great grandchildren Brandon , Aliana , Slayton , Presley , Jacob , Logan , Blair, Emalie , Joey Inzzy , Aubrey, Mathew, Noah, Joshua, Jonah, Ethan. Those honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Jason Bennett, Mitchell Bennett, Drake Rodriguez, Joseph Kennard, Jeremy Kennard, Avery Owens, Brandon Haslett and Brandon Bennett. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Friday - February 18, 2022 with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. (same day) with Pastor Larry D. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, DeSoto, TX.
