Helen Ruth Zerfas

Born January 3, 1917 in Sylvan Grove Kansas to William Emory and Elizabeth Wolbach Bowen.; she married Oscar J. Zerfas on May 22, 1937, and they lived in Ellis, KS until 1948 when they moved to Goodland, KS. She was the secretary for the Co-op Oil Company in Goodland. In 1987 they moved to Hays, KS, until 1995 when she came to the Dallas area. Here husband preceded her in death on March 7, 1990. She is survived by daughter and son in law; Ruth Ann and Max A. Jewell, II of DeSoto, TX, granddaughters; Kristi Kae and husband, John Lyon of Parker, TX, and Kerrie Paige and husband, John Adair of Corinth, TX and grandson Trey and his wife, Janina Jewell of Weatherford, TX. great grandchildren; Miles Spencer Lyon and John Austin Adair, sister, Flora Marie Zerfas of Ellis, Ks. Private graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis, KS, with a Memorial Service and reception at 1:30 p.m. that same day at United Methodist Church in Ellis, KS with Rev. Deb Harvey, officiating under the direction of Washington-Keithley Funeral Home, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637 (785.726.4400). An additional Celebration of her life will be held at Grace Presbyterian Village Chapel on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2 P. M.
