Hipolito "Polo" Gomez, 61, U S Army National Guard Veteran, of Glenn Heights, TX passed away peacefully at his home on January 24, 2022. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he was a US Army Veteran and a faithful, steadfast provider and protector Polo was a beloved husband to Sandra and a devoted, caring, humorous, and kind father to Yaneli and Katie. Preceded in death by his parents Andres Gomez and Sofia Baez, brother Gilberto Gomez. Survived by his wife Sandra Gomez; his daughters Yaneli and Katie; siblings Carmen Polo, Virginia Gomez, Domingo Gomez, Francisco Gomez, Angela Gomez, Socorro Edwards, Julio Gomez, Cristino Gomez, and Joselito Gomez. Polo had a love for great Puerto Rican food and being surrounded by the laughter and love of a caring family. His kind heart, generous soul, and his witty humor will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Yaneli or “Squirt” as he called her remembers his pranks and how he taught her to drive better than any driving school. Katie remembers his love for movies and going on ice cream runs. Polo was a kind, generous friend who never met a stranger. He welcomed everyone into his home and enjoyed great conversations always sharing a cup of fresh coffee with them. “He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.” Psalm 91:4. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Friday - January 28, 2022 from 1:30 - 3:00 P.M. with the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 P.M. (same day) with Father James Yamauchi, officiating.
