Iva Earlene Carroll

November 23, 1937 — August 29, 2024

Iva Earlene Carroll, age 86, of Midlothian, Texas, peacefully passed away on August 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. She now rests in the loving arms of our Savior.

Earlene was born on November 23, 1937, in Caney, Oklahoma, to Samuel George Brawner and Myrtle Dale (Simpson) Brawner. After graduating from high school, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Jeremiah (JJ) Carroll. They married and built a family together, welcoming five children: Mike, Ronnie, Donna, Dianna, and Deanna. Earlene was a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated grandmother. Her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and as a homemaker and business partner in their home building, roofing and construction business. Known affectionately as "Mom" to her children and "Ma" to her grandchildren, she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and love.

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrtle Brawner; her husband of 60 years, JJ Carroll; and her siblings Harold, Lesley, A.D., Kloes, and half-brother Elton Brawner. She was also preceded by sisters-in-law Fern Brawner, Mahala Cullum, and Betty Brawner; brother-in-law Donald Hayes; daughter-in-law Diane Carroll; and son-in-law Jimmy Gray.

She is survived by her sons Mike Carroll of Ennis, Texas, and Ronnie Carroll and wife Velvet of Heath, Texas; daughters Donna Jobe Nabb and husband Don of Midlothian, Texas; Dianna Gray of Midlothian Texas; and Deanna Engledow and husband Troy of Berry, Texas. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jennifer Jobe, Jake Carroll, Hannah Carroll Tully and husband Robert, Jessica Jobe, Casey Engledow, Meagan Engledow, Chad Carroll and Amanda Carroll Lee and husband Henry, Kalleigh Carroll, Ashley Gray Couey and husband Joseph. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Connor, Charlotte, Leah, Kadence, Townes and Hayes.

Step grandchildren Jennifer and Casey Cronin children Tanner, Kagen, Krew & Colt; Donny and Jenni Tooman Tanner children Kaleb, Hudson, Baylor.

Earlene is also survived by her sister Jewell Hayes of Paris, Texas, and sister-in-law Jessie Brawner of Ivanhoe, Texas.
