Today we celebrate the life of Mrs. Iva Dell McLain Clemmons, who came into this world on September 13, 1918 as the beloved child of Robert L. and Lela Belle Humphrey McClain in Pottsboro, Grayson County, TX. On July 28, 2010, she left this world as a cherished friend, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. Mrs. Clemmons was married for 73 years to Rev. R.L. Clemmons, Sr. who went to be with the Lord in 2007. They were pastors for almost 30 years at various churches throughout Texas, but are best remembered as the pastors of De Soto Assembly of God. Together they touched many lives. Mrs. Clemmons will always be remembered for her loving pastor’s heart, warm friendship, and extraordinary ability to teach the Word of God. Some special memories include enjoying her home baked bread and lemon pies, and sitting around the breakfast table reading scriptures from the “bread of life” she kept on the kitchen table. At her 90th birthday party, Mrs. Clemmons shared that her heartfelt desire was for her family to be an unbroken circle around the throne of God. Her family is blessed to have such a rich Christian heritage to live and to pass down through the generations. Whose love can equal the love of a Mother; whose the devotion so loyal and true? Who suffers so much with such joy for another? Who works with such pleasure as Mother for you? You hail with delight the friendship of others, you revel in love of the sweetheart you’ve won, yet where do you find a friendship like Mothers? Unbroken until death calls and life’s work is done? Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:28-30
