Jack David Bond

January 8, 1929 — June 12, 2023

94, Lt. Col., USAF Ret., of DeSoto, Texas passed away June 12, 2023 Mathematician, Aeronautical Engineer, Adventurer, Woodcrafter. He was born and raised in Dallas-Oak Cliff. He graduated Sunset High School where he set records in track. He was in ROTC at Texas A & M and after graduating, entered the Air Force. He graduated Michigan State University while serving in the Air Force. He served in Vietnam flying RF101s. He ended his Air Force career in 1975 while stationed at Wright Patterson AFB and moved back to Texas in 1976, settling in DeSoto. Son of Charles Rankin and Magnolia Turner, he was the youngest and last surviving member of his family. He is survived by his wife Ina and his three sons, Charles of Maypearl, David of Iconha, Daniel of DeSoto, and grandchildren, Cory (Natasha), Magnolia, and Cheyenne as well as great grand children, Harley, Wyatt and Maverick, in addition to many nieces and nephews and extended family, whom he loved very much. In lieu of flowers please donate in Jack’s name to Lisbon Cemetery Association or Dallas SPCA. The family will receive friends at West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Wednesday - June 28, 2023 from 10 - 11:00 A.M. Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will also be held on Wednesday - June 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
