James Harold Boswell

August 15, 1929 — December 11, 2020

James Harold Boswell was born August 15, 1929 to Otha B. Boswell and Myrtle A. Allen in Atlanta, Georgia. His family moved to Bruceton, Tennessee where he graduated from Central High School. As a young man, he moved to Chillicothe, Missouri where he graduated from Chillicothe Business School in 1949 with a degree in Business. After graduating, he moved to Kansas City and went to work for Sweet Lumber Company as a buyer of home building products. It was at Sweet Lumber, he met and married Virginia A. Brown of Kansas City, Kansas on November 21st, 1956. In 1967 he joined the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and moved to Dallas, Texas. While working for AAFES, he was transferred to several locations including Ft. Jackson, South Carolina; Ft. Bliss, Texas; Frankfurt, Germany; Bremerhaven, Germany; Montgomery, Alabama and Ft. Jackson where he retired in 1992 after 25 years of distinguished service. After the family had “flown the coop”, Harold and Virginia moved to DeSoto, Texas to spend their remaining time with their children and grandchildren. Married 43 years to the love of his life he affectionally called “Ginny”, she passed unexpectedly on July 20th, 2000. Harold loved poetry and wrote several poems, volunteered at the DeSoto Senior Center and the DeSoto Outreach for many years. He also loved entertaining hosting several events at his home including his annual Christmas party for the Senior Center and his friends. He remained active in his church, Saint Anne Episcopal Church in DeSoto, Texas until his last few years. He passed from this life peacefully, early Friday afternoon, December 11, 2020 in Dallas, TX surrounded by his children. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Virginia A. Boswell in 2000, his parents Otha B. Boswell in 1988 and Myrtle A. Allen in 1990, his brother Forrest (Buck) J. Boswell Jr. who died during the liberation of Luxembourg in 1944 and his sister Myrtle L. Mitchell in 2008. He is survived by his son Dennis Boswell and wife Cynthia of Lakeside, Texas; daughters Melinda R. Allred and husband Thomas of Dallas, Texas; Sally B. Anderson and husband Tony of Duncanville, Texas and Brenda B. Wilson and husband James of Boerne, Texas. He is also survived by 7 Grandsons, 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great Grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Louise Loveall, nieces Patricia Robertson, Bonnie Herrin and nephew Ray Smothers all of Bruceton, Tennessee; nieces Cassandra Hughey and Debbie Bzdell both of Huntsville, Alabama; sister-in-law’s Caroline Pike and Linda Harris of Kansas City, Missouri; nephews Jeff Goodlin and Brian Harris of Kansas City, Missouri and Danny Goodlin of Polk City, Florida. Harold is now in heaven dancing with his dear Ginny. May Dad and Mom finally rest together in peace. The Memorial Service will be private for family members only and will be live streamed from St. Anne Episcopal Church Facebook page at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday - January 09, 2021.
