James George Ellis

James George Ellis passed away September 22, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1931 in Houston, Texas to James G. and George Mary Ellis. Mr. Ellis is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Betty Ellis, brothers, John and Bill Ellis; and sister, Barbara Frombaugh. Mr. Ellis served in the United States Air Force, as an airplane mechanic, where he met his wife, Betty. After his military service he attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas obtaining a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Mr. Ellis worked for various oil companies retiring as a Vice-President of Southern Union Oil and Gas Company in 1988. Mr. Ellis was a long time resident of DeSoto, Texas, moving to Farmington, New Mexico in 2009 to marry his current wife, Jody Ellis. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife Jody Ellis and her children of Farmington, New Mexico; sons Ed and John Ellis, daughter Linda Cothron, sister Mary Gibson, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ellis mentored many young people during his lifetime in both his personal life and his professional one. He enjoyed watching the youth learn from his knowledge and experiences. He also enjoyed his time with young children, as he was just an over gown kid at heart. Jim “Grampy” Ellis will truly be missed by any and all who had the pleasure of calling him friend. We, as a family, request that you respect Mr. Ellis’ request for privacy and no services will be held.
