Born December 11, 1921 in Dallas to Ernest and Minnie (Porter) Fuston, died –October 22, 2012 . He attended Forest and Adamson High Schools and was a Business Major at Southern Methodist University where he was a member of the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. He and his wife Ann lived on wooded, park -like acreage in north Ellis County for approximately 40 years before moving to a senior community in Cedar Hill, Texas. He was a member of the Ovilla United Methodist Church for over 46 years. He was treasurer for 7 years and served in many other church offices. For many years, he especially enjoyed greeting people. He was a member of I.O.O.F. fraternal lodge since 1967. During WW II he served in the Air Transport Command and the Alaskan Air Command. He was retired from the Texas Employment Commission and following that he represented Germania Farm Insurance Association in north Ellis County for 25 years. He loved his horses and enjoyed riding until 80 years of age. He and Ann, to whom he was married for 71 years, enjoyed traveling. They traveled the world extensively including all of the states of the U.S., eight states of Mexico and all ten provinces and one territory of Canada. Their international travels covered six of the seven continents and included more than 60 countries. They returned to some of their favorite countries several times. Jim and Ann were committed to walking. They walked 6 days a week since 1985 for more than 27,000 miles. Their greatest of all blessings was a precious daughter, Rhonda Kay Fuston, who lives in Grapevine, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, The Reverend Bob Fuston and wife, Peggy of Arlington, Texas. Other survivors include: two nieces, Layne Woodruff Hamilton of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Dr. Jeanna Fuston White of Marshall, Texas and two nephews: Lynn Fuston of Nashville, Tennessee and Dane Tune of Kerrville, Texas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Ovilla United Methodist Church, 1403 Red Oak Creek, Ovilla, Texas 75154 (972.617.8840). A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the Memorial Service. Memorials are encouraged to Ovilla United Methodist Church.
