James O. Kidd, Sr.

96, U S Army Air Force Veteran, of DeSoto, TX passed away on August 13, 2019. Mr. Kidd was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years:  Virginia Clarke Kidd, his parents and all four siblings. He is survived by his children:  James O. Kidd, Jr. & wife Karen, Eric Martin Kidd & wife Donna and Lori Sue Kidd Hunt & husband John; grandchildren:  Rob Morrow, Kathy Morrow Large & husband Carl, Christopher Kidd & wife Angie, Ian Kidd & wife DeLaina, Brian Kidd & wife Brittney, Thomas Hunt and Aaron Hunt; great grandchildren:  Caden Large, Quintan Riddle, Drake Kidd, MiKaela Kidd, Asher Kidd, Evyn Kidd, Ethan Kidd, Madelyn Kidd, Paxton Kidd, Amelia Kidd and Olivia Kidd;  great great grandchild:  Morgan Riddle; sisters in law:  Pat Clark and Gwenda Kidd. He attended Trinity Heights Elementary School and Boude Storey Junior High in Dallas. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1942 where he was a member of the ROTC, Band and Cross-Country Track Team. He volunteered in WWII as an airman in the US Army Air Force. He was attached to the 397th Bomb group and crewed on the B-26 Martin Marauder aircraft. He flew missions from France and Holland, in support of the Allied invasion of Germany. After the war he returned home and went to work for Southwestern Bell telephone in 1947. He started with Bell as a cable splicer and held several positions during 42-year career. He retired from Bell in 1989 as an air conditioning specialist. He was an active member of Grace Covenant Church of Red Oak, Texas for many years.   Throughout his life he was faithful and dutiful to his family and loved ones. He will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger and would always be there for anyone in need. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials or donations be made in Mr. Kidd's name to the charity of your choice.  Please provide the chosen charity with the family's name and address so acknowledgements may be sent. The Funeral Service for Mr. Kidd will be held at 12 Noon in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - August 20, 2019. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until Service Time on Tuesday morning. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
